Job description

As an FP&A Manager, you will support the FP&A Controller and work closely with the Financial Controller, Head of Commercial Finance, and Finance Director. You will also collaborate extensively with teams across Accounts Payable, Financial Accounting, Commercial Finance, and Treasury.

Core Areas of Responsibility
  • Reporting: Delivery of high‑quality weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Planning: Ownership and support of the annual budget, five‑year strategic plan, and quarterly forecasting cycles.
  • Central Costs: Budgeting and forecasting, monthly variance analysis, and strong business partnering with departmental budget holders.
Key Measures of Success
  • Consistent delivery of high‑quality weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting within agreed timelines.
  • Timely delivery of quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, and five‑year plans, achieving expected outcomes.
  • Clear and effective communication of financial plans and insights to the senior leadership team.
  • Positive feedback from stakeholders across the FP&A team and the wider Finance function, reflecting strong collaboration and support.

Financial Systems Focus

Alongside responsibility for core financial reporting and financial planning, this role will place a strong emphasis on financial systems. This includes maximising the effectiveness of our existing reporting and planning solutions within Finance, as well as supporting wider teams to get the most value from these systems. Looking ahead, the FP&A Manager will also play a key role in supporting the planning, development, and implementation of a new financial planning tool.

Qualifications
  • Part‑qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA).
  • Advanced systems knowledge, particularly Oracle Fusion and EPBCS (SmartView).
  • Advanced Excel skills, with strong technical and analytical capability.
  • Experience working in a multi‑site environment is desirable; retail sector experience is preferable.
  • Good understanding of how discount retail operates is desirable.
  • Proven experience delivering objectives, with a strong understanding of end‑to‑end processes.
  • Experience managing change and driving continuous improvement through new and more effective ways of working.
  • Comfortable supporting and constructively challenging leaders and colleagues across the business.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both Finance and non‑Finance stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker, able to work independently and take ownership once briefed.
