Job summary

Leeds Building Society in Leeds is seeking a Financial Operations Control Manager to provide specialist payments knowledge and senior control leadership within Financial Operations. You will oversee governance, risk management and regulatory compliance to ensure resilient and well-controlled operations.

In this role you will translate complex regulatory requirements into practical controls, report on findings and influence stakeholders to embed evidence-based practices across the payments

How you'll make a difference

You'll provide specialist payments knowledge and senior control leadership across Financial Operations, ensuring effective governance, risk management, regulatory compliance and operational resilience. The role provides subject matter expertise, oversight and challenge across key operational risks, with a particular focus on payment regulations, payment scheme rules and associated controls. Through stakeholder engagement, assurance, regulatory change and continuous improvement activities, the role ensures payment and regulatory obligations are understood, embedded and evidenced, supporting compliant, resilient and well-controlled operational outcomes.

What will you bring to the role?

• Strong working knowledge of the payment's regulatory environment, payment scheme rules and associated risk management practices is essential
• Ability to interpret regulatory or scheme requirements and translate them into practical controls, evidence standards, reporting and governance actions
• Proven track record of building effective relationships with stakeholders and subject matter experts with the ability to influence and challenge where necessary.
• Strong communication skills - listening, writing, and presenting with clarity and confidence.
• Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail; able to prioritise, multitask, and perform under pressure.
• Proactive, self-driven, and capable of working independently to deliver results
