Financial Management Assistant

Main duties of the job

The Financial Management Assistant role is responsible for the production of monthly management accounts and for providing sound financial advice and support to non-clinical budget holders.

This is a key role in supporting and working with financial and corporate colleagues in delivering excellent patient services in the Corporate Functions Division.

Key to this is building relationships with colleagues and having the insight required to produce accurate management accounts and to provide sound financial advice.

There is a full induction programme to support an understanding of NHS finance and how the Trust and the Directorates operate.

The key elements of the role are to:

  • Provide operational managers with information and analysis each month.
  • Review actual income and expenditure within the Trust ledger system (ABS).
  • Prepare and input journals and accruals to produce accurate management accounts.
  • Hold meetings with budget holders and managers independently.
  • Support the Directorate Teams to ensure timely reporting and recovery of income.
  • Prepare budget virements and journals to maintain the integrity of financial and staffing budgets.
