Responsibilities

• Partner with Managing Director and shareholders as lead finance adviser and present the numbers at board meetings.
• Set and drive the group's financial strategy including growth, site investment, and acquisitions/disposals.
• Lead, coach and motivate the finance team with clear ownership and succession planning.
• Own monthly management accounts for each entity and consolidated group with KPI reporting.
• Produce statutory accounts and manage external audit relationships.
• Oversee intercompany balances, recharges and group consolidation.
• Maintain robust control framework across cash handling, banking and reconciliations.
• Maximise SAP Business One visibility for site and asset performance.
• Run yearly budgeting and periodic reforecasts with cash flow projections for all entities.
• Manage banking relationships, facilities, covenants and funding needs.
• Provide commercial support to operational teams on site performance and pricing.
• Prepare business cases and investment appraisals for new sites and refurbishments.
• Oversee tax matters from corporation tax to VAT and compliance duties.
• Ensure regulatory licensing obligations and financial submissions are met.
• Manage finances of property interests including rents, service charges and taxes.
• Advise on property purchases, sales and refinancing and asset holdings.

Job description

A fantastic opportunity to join a well-established, multi-sector family company with a larger logistics element, based in Halesowen, as a Finance Director, paying £80,000 – £120,000 per annum. As the senior finance lead for the group, you'll be the go-to adviser for the family and their Managing Director, with real ownership of the entire finance function. This is a stable, well-invested business offering a visible, influential role where your judgement genuinely shapes where the group goes next.

Main Duties:

• Partnering closely with the Managing Director and shareholders as their lead finance adviser, attending board meetings and presenting the numbers
• Setting and driving the group's financial strategy, covering growth plans, investment in sites, and any acquisitions or disposals
• Leading, coaching and motivating a finance team, with clear expectations, defining who owns what and planning for succession
• Owning the monthly management accounts for every entity and for the consolidated group, backed by meaningful KPI and site-level reporting
• Producing the statutory accounts at year end and running the relationship with the external auditors
• Overseeing intercompany balances, recharges and the group consolidation, ensuring everything ties out across the entities
• Keeping a robust control framework in place across site cash handling, banking, income streams and reconciliations
• Getting the most out of SAP Business One so the family has clear, up-to-date visibility of how each site and asset is performing
• Running the yearly budgeting process and regular reforecasts, with cash flow projections covering every part of the group
• Managing relationships with the banks, along with facilities, covenants and the funding each business needs
• Giving operational teams commercial support and challenge on site performance, pricing, staffing levels and capital spend
• Preparing business cases and investment appraisals to support new sites, refurbishments, equipment and property projects
• Overseeing all tax matters, from corporation tax and VAT through to sector-specific duties, working alongside external advisers
• Making sure the group meets its regulatory licensing obligations, including the preparation of regulatory returns and financial submissions
• Looking after the finances of the group's property interests, from rents, service charges and lease events through to valuations and property taxes
• Advising on property purchases, sales and refinancing, and on how group assets are best held

• Proven experience at Finance Director level, or as a senior Financial Controller ready to step up
• Experience of group consolidation, intercompany and reporting across multiple entities

• Sound commercial judgement and the credibility to advise shareholders, and to challenge them when it matters
• SAP Business One experience, though a comparable ERP and the ability to pick it up quickly will be considered
• A practical style, comfortable getting stuck into the detail while also setting the strategy
• A discreet, personable approach that earns trust and builds lasting relationships with shareholders
• Well organised and decisive, keeping a cool head and a sharp eye for accuracy under pressure
