  • Strong knowledge of cost control, project accounting, and site-based financial operations.
  • Sound understanding of Botswana tax, VAT, Exports, Imports and reporting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all site financial activities including accounts payable, receivable, payroll inputs, and cash flow.
  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and operational cost reports.
  • Develop, monitor, and control site budgets and forecasts.
  • Maintain robust internal controls and ensure full compliance with company and statutory requirements.
  • Track and reconcile stock, fuel, consumables, and capital expenditure.
  • Support audit processes and ensure proper documentation and reporting.
  • Collaborate with site management to provide financial insights that drive operational performance.
  • Supervise and mentor the site finance and administration team.

Our client in the coal mining industry is looking for an experienced Financial Controller and Site Accountant to oversee the full financial function at their mining operation. This individual will report to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for strategic financial management with hands‑on site accounting, ensuring strong financial governance, accurate reporting, and cost control in a demanding operational environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all site financial activities including accounts payable, receivable, payroll inputs, and cash flow.
  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and operational cost reports.
  • Develop, monitor, and control site budgets and forecasts.
  • Maintain robust internal controls and ensure full compliance with company and statutory requirements.
  • Track and reconcile stock, fuel, consumables, and capital expenditure.
  • Support audit processes and ensure proper documentation and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., Sage, Syspro, or SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Sound understanding of Botswana tax, VAT, Exports, Imports and reporting standards.
