Financial Controller – Hull

Financial Controller – Hull – Up to £66,700 & Exceptional Benefits

Job Overview

Chase & Holland are working with a large, well‑established organisation in Hull who are a regional leader in their sector and have an exemplary track record for providing a great service. Due to an internal promotion, they require a highly competent, driven Financial Controller to join their dynamic team. Reporting into the VP for Finance, the role will be hands‑on, leading the production of all financial management information and supporting the wider business to achieve strategic and financial goals.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, forecasts and other reports for all Group companies, including subsidiaries.
  • Provide expert advice, guidance and support to budget managers enabling them to effectively plan, forecast and monitor their finances.
  • Supervise and manage the finance team on a day‑to‑day basis.
  • Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts, 3‑year planning and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Develop and design KPIs for Finance, ensuring they are monitored and achieved.
  • Provide financial inputs into business reviews, budget holder meetings, EMT and other leadership forums.
  • Lead on forecasting, budget preparation and year‑end analysis, supporting audit preparation and compliance.
  • Monitor funding methodologies, changes in funding rules and ensure financial strategy reflects these.
  • Lead improvements to finance systems, automation and data analytics.
  • Support bids, partnerships and capital planning, ensuring financial viability and robust risk assessment.
  • Deputise for the VP for Finance as required and make a strategic contribution as a full member of the Senior Management Team.
Qualifications
  • Qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA Accountant with a hands‑on approach.
  • Technically strong, including statutory reporting, financial controls, group consolidation and UK GAAP/IFRS reporting standards.
  • Previous experience of managing and developing a team.
  • Strong Excel skills and exposure working with ERP systems.
  • Able to give financial knowledge to non‑financial managers.
  • Knowledge of developing financial policy in complex organisations.
