JOB TITLE: Financial Controller LOCATION: Wells SALARY & BENEFITS: £55000 HOURS: Full Time

We’re delighted to be partnering exclusively with a long-established business in Somerset to appoint a Financial Controller.

This is an excellent opportunity to take full ownership of the finance function, leading a small, capable team and playing a key role in driving business performance and supporting future strategy.

This broad and hands‑on role is ideal for a commercially minded and technically strong finance professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams while maintaining a strategic outlook.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the finance function, overseeing all day‑to‑day accounting operations.
  • Produce timely and accurate financial reports, including management accounts and reconciliations.
  • Manage payroll, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and audit preparation.
  • Partner with senior leadership and group stakeholders to provide financial insight and challenge.
  • Lead the migration to a new finance system and ensure data integrity throughout the process.
  • Drive process improvement, strengthen controls, and enhance financial reporting.
What We’re Looking For
  • A qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) or QBE with strong technical and commercial skills.
  • Experience gained within an SME or manufacturing environment is advantageous.
  • Strong systems and Excel capability; ERP experience beneficial.
  • Hands‑on, proactive, and detail‑focused with excellent communication skills.
  • Collaborative approach and a genuine passion for improving processes and driving performance.
