A growing service organization based in North Kent is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee financial management and reporting for key business units. This role involves preparing financial statements, coordinating budgets, and ensuring compliance with standards. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience and is ACA, CA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified. The position is based in Tonbridge with hybrid working options and a salary range of £60,000 to £75,000 per annum.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial control or audit positions.
  • Proven experience working with Sage or Xero accounting systems would be beneficial.
  • Solid knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP standards is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and analyse financial statements in line with UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Coordinate budget and forecast processes for both entities.
  • Maintain balance sheet integrity and oversee reconciliations.
  • Streamline reporting and finance processes for efficiency.

Overview

Robert Walters are delighted to be exclusively partnering with a newly acquired and rapidly growing, service organisation based in North Kent, who are looking to hire a technically strong Financial Controller on a permanent basis.

Reporting into a European Finance Director, this Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in overseeing financial management and reporting for two key business units. You\'ll work closely with local management teams, operational leaders, and the wider parent group to ensure reliable financial reporting, efficient processes, and continuous improvement.

This role offers the chance to contribute directly to business growth while driving professionalisation and accuracy across finance functions. We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare, review, and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with UK GAAP, IFRS, and Group requirements.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Coordinate budget and forecast processes for both entities, ensuring alignment with business plans.
  • Financial Control: Maintain balance sheet integrity, oversee reconciliations, and ensure proper application of accounting policies.
  • Process Improvement: Streamline reporting and finance processes to promote efficiency and consistency across both sites.
  • Compliance & Audit: Ensure adherence to IFRS, UK GAAP, and internal policies while preparing for external audits.
  • Business Partnering: Provide financial insight and advice to local management teams to support performance monitoring and decision-making.
  • Systems & Reporting: Utilise Sage and Xero as the core accounting systems, alongside Excel and Power BI for reporting and analysis.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the management teams to harmonise reporting, share best practices, and support integration activities.
  • Qualifications: ACA, CA, ACCA, CIMA qualified, or QBE with relevant experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial control or audit positions.
  • Proven experience working with Sage or Xero accounting systems would be beneficial.
  • Strong Excel skills for reporting and analysis; Power BI knowledge is an advantage.
  • Solid knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP standards is essential.
  • Experience in multi-entity reporting or working across multiple sites is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • A proactive mindset with strong organisational skills and problem-solving abilities.
Location & Travel
  • The primary location for this position will be in Tonbridge, Kent. However, there will be regular travel required to a secondary site in North London, so the ability to travel by car is essential.
