Job description
Financial Controller

An established and expanding UK-based group is seeking a capable and confident Financial Controller to take ownership of its day-to-day finance operations. This is a pivotal role, providing leadership, structure, and control across a multi-entity environment while allowing the Finance Director to focus on longer-term strategic priorities. You'll be trusted to run the finance function with a high degree of autonomy, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and resilience in financial processes. The business values sound judgment, accountability, and continuous improvement and recognises that strong leadership is built through ownership and learning. As the organisation continues to scale, this role offers genuine scope to influence how the finance function evolves, from systems and controls through to team capability and ways of working.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the finance team, setting clear expectations and ensuring the function operates effectively with minimal oversight.
  • Maintain full ownership of day-to-day financial control across multiple entities, including month‑end close, reconciliations, and cash‑flow management.
  • Ensure robust financial controls, compliance, and authorisation processes are consistently applied.
  • Produce accurate and timely financial information to support senior decision‑making, budgeting, and audit requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance systems, processes, and ways of working to support business growth.
Requirements
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with strong post‑qualification experience.
  • Proven background in a hands‑on financial control role within a multi‑entity environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, managing, and developing a finance team.
  • Confident operating autonomously, with sound judgement and the ability to make decisions independently.
  • Commercially aware, well organised, and able to remain calm and effective in a fast‑paced setting.
Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity for a Financial Controller who wants real responsibility, influence, and progression within a growing organisation without unnecessary bureaucracy. You'll be trusted, supported, and given the space to build a finance function that genuinely adds value to the wider business.
