Financial Controller

Huntress are partnering with a forward thinking boutique consulting firm who are looking to grow their team with the addition of a Financial Controller.

As an integral member of the finance team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality management accounting and financial reporting to a diverse range of clients. This will include taking ownership of producing management accounts, preparing board packs, budgeting, and managing VAT returns while also ensuring exceptional client service within an outsourced model.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver accurate and timely management accounts for clients
  • Develop and present Board packs to clients, providing financial insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with clients to design effective financial strategies.
  • Handle VAT returns preparation
  • Collaborate with Senior Managers and stakeholders to improve workflows and enhance service delivery.
  • Train and mentor junior team members, providing guidance and technical support as needed.
  • Assist in financial reporting, including preparation of balance sheets, P&L statements, and other relevant documentation.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, building and sustaining strong working relationships.
  • Actively identify opportunities to streamline processes and provide value-added services to clients.
  • Ensure all assigned projects are delivered within agreed timelines and budgets.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent) or part-qualified with extensive experience in management accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of management accounting, VAT regulations, and financial reporting standards.
  • Previous experience in an outsourcing or virtual accounting role is preferred.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or others).
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to work independently and manage multiple client accounts.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work.
