A well-established and expanding group of companies based in Pickering is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their finance team on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands‑on and commercially focused finance professional to take full ownership of the finance function across a growing group. Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will:
  • Oversee all finance operations across the group, ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting, and effective cashflow management.
  • Lead and develop a small finance and systems team—providing hands‑on support where needed while driving best practice and process improvement.
  • Produce monthly management accounts with insightful analysis and commentary for the Board and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Deliver budgeting, forecasting, and ad‑hoc financial analysis to support commercial decision‑making and business performance.
  • Oversee payroll, VAT, and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Partner with Directors and operational managers to provide commercial insight around costs, margins, and productivity.
  • Review and enhance financial systems and processes to improve reporting capability and support business growth.
  • Lead the preparation of statutory accounts and coordinate the annual audit with external auditors.
The ideal candidate will:
  • Be ACA or ACCA qualified, practice‑trained, with proven success in a Finance Manager or Financial Controller role—ideally within manufacturing, engineering, or a similar multi‑site environment.
  • Have a strong technical background with hands‑on experience in management accounting, costing, and financial reporting.
  • Be highly proficient in Excel and experienced with systems such as Sage, Xero, or SAP.
  • Be confident working across multiple sites, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Be commercially astute, proactive, and adaptable—able to balance day‑to‑day finance operations with strategic leadership responsibilities.

This position is based in Pickering, North Yorkshire, and is easily commutable from Malton, York, Scarborough, Driffield, Pocklington, and Thirsk.
