Overview

Role: Finance Controller - Automotive Dealership

Location: Isle of Wight (Could be based on South Coast Area)

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent (3 days office on IOW, 2 days Remote)

Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 per annum + Benefits

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and commercially minded Finance Controller to lead the accounting and administration function within our dealership operations. This is a key role supporting senior management with accurate financial reporting, performance analysis and strategic decision-making.

You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of financial processes, compliance with reporting deadlines and maintaining strong internal controls across all areas of the dealership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce monthly management accounts at both departmental and business-wide levels
  • Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis and commentary
  • Manage cash flow and ensure adherence to banking agreements and manufacturer schemes
  • Oversee dealership assets including debtors, stock, and funding facilities
  • Collaborate with management to produce weekly forecasts and annual budgets
  • Prepare annual consolidated accounts and support external audits
  • Maintain and reconcile accruals, prepayments, provisions, and balance sheet items
  • Ensure timely and accurate statutory reporting (PAYE, Social Security, VAT/GST)
  • Manage payroll, bonuses, and commissions with accuracy and fairness
  • Oversee use of Autoline DMS and related modules (VSB, ledgers, database management)
What We're Looking For
  • Experience in automotive finance or dealership accounting
  • Strong understanding of KPIs across Sales, Service, and Parts operations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Experience with Keyloop (Autoline) DMS preferred but not essential
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and communicate financial insights clearly
