Primary Purpose Of The Job
The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing the financial accounting operations of the company by ensuring timely and accurate reporting, and compliance with UK statutory and regulatory frameworks. This is a hands‑on senior role requiring a proactive, detail‑oriented individual with strong technical accounting expertise. The role will provide technical assistance to key stakeholders to analyse and report on key business risks.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with applicable Accounting Standards and reporting requirements in UK and any other relevant markets.
- Regulatory compliance with UK governmental & other regulatory bodies (e.g. Companies Act, Office for National Statistics).
- Compliance with financial reporting standards under UK GAAP (FRS102).
- Preparation and submission of annual statutory accounts.
- Month‑end close and preparation / submission of monthly accounts including submission to Group within allocated timelines each month.
- Assisting with annual Budgets & Monthly Rolling Forecasts including key P&L items / Balance sheet and Cashflow.
- Manage insurance renewal for the business.
- Ensure all accounts payable and accounts receivable are accounted for and correctly managed by our outsourced partner.
- Lead and manage audit engagement to ensure delivered on time and within budget.
- With the support of Deputy Director – Finance lead work required to ensure high standards of financial control, accuracy and compliance across the company.
- Maintenance of adequate books and records.
- Become a SAP super‑user and ensure management of GL & asset register, including management of chart of accounts.
- Create and update processes and procedures manuals.
- Provide internal professional accounting guidance and advice specific to projects being undertaken and on technical accounting areas e.g. revenue recognition, business combinations, deferred taxation.
- Assisting with cash management, review and approval of payments as required.
Education, Training And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Finance, Accounting, Business or related is desirable.
- Qualified professional accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Experience of systems, processes and controls within a subsidiary of a global group.
- Knowledge of best practice governance, internal control, risk management and compliance is highly desirable.
- Preferably worked in automotive business.
