Job summary

A leading engineering and manufacturing firm is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to support senior leadership and drive improvements in their finance function. The ideal candidate will have robust manufacturing finance experience, excellent systems skills, and a proactive approach to automation. Responsibilities include leading management accounts, ensuring financial accuracy, and mentoring junior team members. This position offers a salary of £60,000 - £65,000 plus bonus, and is based in office in the UK.

• Mentor and support junior members of the finance team.

Henderson Scott Finance and Accounting are recruiting for a successful engineering and manufacturing business vased in Birmingham. We are seeking a Financial Controller to support senior leadership and drive continuous improvement across their finance function.

The ideal candidate will bring strong manufacturing finance experience, excellent systems capability, and a proactive approach to automation and process optimisation. Qualifications are welcome but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead statutory & management accounts, forecasting, and audit preparation
• Strengthen financial controls and ensure accurate month-end / year-end reporting
• Partner closely with senior management, providing clear financial insight
• Oversee manufacturing finance: costing, variances, stock reporting, and KPIs
• Drive process improvements and support system & automation enhancements
• Build strong cross-functional relationships across engineering and operations
• Mentor and support junior members of the finance team

Ideal Candidate

• Solid manufacturing finance experience
• Strong systems skills and interest in automation
• Excellent communication skills with senior stakeholder exposure
• Hands‑on approach with a continuous improvement mindset
• Qualification ACCA, CIMA or ACA desirable but not essential

Salary

£60,000 - £65,000 plis bonus
