About Us

Bridges Outcomes Partnerships (BOP) is a not-for-profit social enterprise that works alongside Government, community groups and specialist Delivery partners to design and deliver vital services that support people to improve their lives, in areas ranging from housing and employment to education and health & wellbeing.

The role of BOP spans project development (working with Government and others to design and launch the service), project management (coordinating the delivery phase, managing performance, and liaising with the various stakeholders) and project finance (funding the project until it starts to earn outcomes payments). Our own funding comes from a group of pioneering social investors, including The Office for Civil Society, Big Society Capital, Pilotlight, Trust for London, who, like us, are motivated by improving lives and changing the system for the better.

Our services are typically delivered through individual project entities, incorporated for the purpose of managing the project and related investment. BOP's headcount, income and project portfolio has approximately doubled in the last 5 years and we expect a similar rate of growth in the coming years.

About the opportunity

The Financial Controller role will manage the day to day, monthly and annual financial processes of BOP and our (currently) 25 project entities; processes we have built with this multi entity environment in mind. Through those processes, and relationships with peers, this role will ensure that BOP's financial processes and reporting support its mission, while also providing support and insight to teams working across our projects.

The successful candidate will be confident working in a supportive, collaborative team. They will manage our Accounts Assistant and play a leading role in our Enablement Team (made up of People, Digital, Impact, ESG and Quality & Assurance) as BOP enters a key period.

This role will join at a point of growth for BOP. This is a chance to strengthen financial processes, systems and automation to enable that growth.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Management of our Accounts Assistant, who is responsible for entering and processing financial transactions and payments across the portfolio.
  • Coordination of our payable processes and fortnightly payment runs.
  • Preparation & filing of annual accounts and tax returns for BOP & all project entities, utilising TaxCalc software.
  • Delivery of monthly management accounts and associated month end processes (including accruals, prepayments and intercompany recharges) for all entities using our accounting system, Iplicit.
  • Overseeing all aspects of VAT including monthly group returns, overseas reverse charge processes and new entity registrations.
  • Management of Company Secretarial records including share registrations & annual confirmation statements across all entities.
  • Being a trusted advisor and business partner to projects across the portfolio and throughout their lifespan; through pre contract, mobilisation, delivery and project wind down.
  • Managing and where necessary improving financial processes to maintain data accuracy and utilise available technologies to ensure the finance function can continue to deliver effectively as the portfolio grows.
  • Management of our sales invoicing process; preparing and submitting invoices for outcomes and liaising with our commissioners to strengthen relationships & ensure prompt payment.
  • Identifying opportunities for process automation and improving utilisation of financial data by colleagues across the programme.
  • Engaging with other Enablement team members and project teams across BOP to share learnings and use feedback to continue to improve the enabling offer of the Finance function.
