Job description

A rapidly growing professional services firm with a UK-wide presence is seeking a talented Finance Controller to join its Manchester-based headquarters. Following a recent investment, the business is entering an exciting phase of expansion, with ambitious plans to significantly scale revenue and profitability over the next five years.

This newly created role is central to strengthening the finance function and supporting the business through its next chapter of growth. You’ll lead day-to-day financial operations, develop a high-performing team, and embed robust systems and controls to ensure scalability and resilience.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Lead and mentor a small finance team across reporting, FP&A, payroll, credit control, and procurement.
  • Own the monthly accounting cycle and ensure robust financial controls.
  • Business Partner with senior stakeholders to deliver accurate, insightful reporting.
  • Drive process improvements, system upgrades, and automation initiatives.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Liaise with auditors and other external stakeholders ensuring full compliance
  • Contribute to board-level reporting, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Work with operational teams to optimise working capital and debtor recovery.
What we are looking for:
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
  • Background in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience managing a team
  • Proficient with Excel and other ERP systems
  • Passion for operational excellence and team development.
