Job summary

Napthens LLP is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead financial reporting, budgeting and controls within our Lancashire practice. You will own management accounts, forecasts and the annual audit, while developing the Accounts Payable team and supporting strategic decisions.

Qualifications include ACA/ACCA/CIMA, with law-firm or professional services experience, strong Excel and Power BI skills, and proven leadership with stakeholder management capabilities.

Qualifications

• Qualified with ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
• Experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
• Experience producing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
• Strong technical accounting and financial control experience.
• Previous people management experience.
• Strong commercial awareness and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using reporting tools such as Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Own management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, and compliance.
• Lead and develop the Management Accounts and Accounts Payable teams.
• Support strategic decision-making with robust financial controls.
• Manage the annual audit process and ensure accurate financial reporting across the firm.

If you're an experienced, qualified senior accountant with a background in a law firm or professional services environment and a strong understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SRA), we'd love to hear from you.

Joining our Finance team in Lancashire, you'll work closely with the Finance Director, Executive Board and Heads of Department, providing the financial insight, leadership and control needed to support the firm's continued success.

You'll take ownership of management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and compliance, while leading and developing our Management Accounts and Accounts Payable teams. You'll also play a key role in supporting strategic decision-making, maintaining robust financial controls, managing the annual audit process, and ensuring accurate financial reporting across the firm.

What You'll Bring

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification
• Experience working within a law firm
• Experience working in a professional services background, ideally within a law firm or practice ideal.
