Job summary

VisionFR Limited in London is seeking a Financial Controller to join their team. You will work closely with directors and lead the finance function, bringing strong management accounting and financial reporting skills.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in budgeting, forecasting, VAT and HMRC compliance, and will have hands-on experience with MediaOcean and advanced Excel. You will analyse profitability, manage cash flow, and provide proactive updates to the board.

Qualifications

• Experience in a finance management role with team leadership.
• Strong accounting knowledge and management accounts preparation.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and group reporting.
• VAT, HMRC compliance, working capital and cash flow understanding.
• Strong analytical and commercial insight with stakeholder communication.
• Experience with MediaOcean is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance team.
• Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis.
• Manage accruals, prepayments, depreciation journals and fixed asset register.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns and HMRC/group compliance.
• Prepare and review balance sheet, income files and group reporting.
• Forecast budgets, reforecasts and cash flow.
• Analyse client profitability, staff efficiency and working capital.
• Oversee intercompany reconciliations and credit insurance.
• Review MediaOcean postings and support tax matters.
• Provide financial updates and attend board meetings.
• Respond to ad-hoc requests.

VisionFR is working on an exciting opportunity to find a Financial Controller for a Digital MediaAgency to join their London team. This role works closely with the directors. The ideal Financial Controller is expected to have a strong background in management accounting, proficient in Media Ocean accounting system and advanced Excel skills.

The Role of the Financial Controller

• Manage and develop the finance team, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of responsibilities.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis against forecasts.
• Manage accruals, prepayments, depreciation journals and the fixed asset register.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC and Group requirements.
• Prepare and review Balance Sheet accounts, income files and Group reporting.
• Prepare budgets, reforecasts and cash flow forecasts.
• Analyse client profitability, staff efficiency and working capital.
• Manage credit insurance and quarterly intercompany reconciliations.
• Review expense and overhead postings within Mediaocean.
• Support Corporation Tax matters, working with the Finance Director and Group Tax Advisors.
• Respond to ad-hoc Group and senior management requests.
• Provide proactive financial updates and attend Board review meetings

Skills & Experience of the Finance Controller

• Proven experience in a finance management role, including team management.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience preparing management accounts.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and Group reporting.
• Good understanding of VAT, HMRC compliance, working capital and cash flow.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide commercial insight.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the confidence to work with senior stakeholders.
• Proactive approach to improving financial processes and reporting.
• Experience using Mediaocean
