Responsibilities

Financial Controller

Location:Hybrid, one day per week on site between Launceston and Okehampton

Contract:Full time, Permanent or Contract

Pay:£50,000 – £60,000 per year

Driving:Car and full UK licence required

We’reNinja Group HQ, a startup building a new model for finance teams.

Instead of hiring multiple full‑time roles, our clients subscribe to a modular finance department with flexible access to the skills they need, from bookkeepers to CFOs.

We’ve onboarded our first clients and our first Modular Finance Manager. Now we’re hiring our first Modular Financial Controller to shape how we deliver at this level. You’ll work across a small portfolio of growing, founder‑led businesses, starting with one or two and expanding as we scale.

The Role

You’ll own the finance backbone for each client: month‑end close, reporting accuracy, cash flow, stock controls and insight. You’ll work directly with founders and operations teams to turn data into decisions, supported by our modular bookkeeping and management accounting team.What You’ll Do

  • Deliver monthly management accounts and board packs
  • Maintain cash flow forecasting
  • Build and reconcile stock controls, costings and yields
  • Design clean SOPs, approvals and reporting dashboards (Power BI / Excel)
  • Support and mentor junior modular team members
  • Partner with owners to provide clarity on margin, cost and cash
Essential Experience
  • Financial Controller or strong Finance Manager in a hands‑on SME environment
  • Experience setting up stock and costing controls, ideally in food production
  • Confident with cash flow, forecasting and reconciliations
  • Proficient in Xero, Shopify, inventory tools, Excel and Power BI
  • ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualified
  • UK‑based, with car and driving licence
Working Pattern

Hybrid, one on‑site day weekly (Launceston/Okehampton), flexible hours, and opportunity to grow as the client portfolio expands. The majority of your work can be remote, however, you will occasionally need to attend client sites so a UK driving licence is essential.
