Job description

Finatal are partnered with a high-growth, VC-backed SaaS scale-up (c.£4m ARR) preparing for a Series B raise. The business is now seeking a Financial Controller to operate as the CFO’s number two, owning the day-to-day finance function and building the financial infrastructure required for the next phase of rapid, international growth.

The Role

You will lead core financial operations, reporting, controls, and cash management across the business. Working closely with GTM, RevOps, Product and the leadership team, you will ensure accurate SaaS revenue reporting, strong financial discipline, and scalable systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end finance function, delivering accurate month-end close, management accounts, KPIs and dashboards.
• Lead revenue recognition, deferred income and contract accounting for a SaaS recurring-revenue model.
• Maintain strong balance-sheet integrity including reconciliations, accruals, working capital and controls.
• Manage statutory filings, year-end accounts, audit preparation and tax compliance (VAT, payroll, CT).
• Design and implement scalable processes, policies, systems and automation suitable for a fast-growing tech scale-up.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash‑runway modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic decisions.
• Partner with RevOps to ensure HubSpot data integrity, forecasting accuracy and monthly KPI reporting.
• Support commercial teams with pricing, contract terms, cost discipline and performance insight.

About You

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with strong technical grounding.
• Must have experience in a VC-backed SaaS or recurring-revenue tech scale-up — essential.
• Hands‑on operator comfortable building structure, process and systems in an evolving environment.
• Strong understanding of SaaS metrics (ARR, MRR, churn, CAC, LTV, NRR) and revenue recognition.
• Highly analytical, detail‑driven and adaptable, with the ability to influence non‑finance stakeholders.
