Financial Controller - Europe

up to £100k DOE

Hybrid - London

I am currently recruiting for an experienced Financial Controller to join a growing, fast paced organisation in London. This role will to the Head of Accounting and Control, the role of Financial Controller, overseeing Europe, is to handle an environment of complexity, change and working to tight deadlines. This role will require implementing controls and best practice processes to ensure the accurate and timely reporting of results in accordance with the relevant accounting standards. It will also include compliance with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • To prepare, complete and implement a process and accounting controls policy manual for all significant finance processes, accounting judgements (Breakage provision, ECL provision) and accounting policies in the group in accordance with the relevant accounting standards;
  • Working with all heads of finance to ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded and reported in accordance with the manual above;
  • To manage the local entity FC’s and teams, including motivating, objective setting and monitoring progress against deliverables;
  • To own the controls framework as implemented and maintained by the Group and ensure appropriate system and other controls are in place and adhered to within the business
  • To be responsible with the Head of Accounting and Control for Financial Reporting, including management accounts and other reports production to agreed timelines
  • Assist with the implementation of the Accounts Payable system, providing feedback to the specific design and guidance to the implementation team and assist in testing and signing off the final implementation, to incorporate required controls framework;
  • To assist with the review and monthly sign off of all Balance Sheet reconciliations and sub ledgers (in particular purchase ledger, sales ledger, breakage provision) evaluating and reporting on any risk or opportunity for Balance Sheet balances
  • Hold excellent technical accounting ability for complex transactions with the ability to prepare technical accounting papers in line with IFRS regarding transactions;
  • To assist the Head of Accounting and Control with the completion of the year end Group audit, being a key liaison for the external auditors, assisting in signing off all significant accounting policies and judgements as part of the audit
  • To assist the Head of Accounting and Control with the completion of the UK statutory audit and the completion and submission of the UK statutory financial statements
Skills & Experience
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant ACA/ACCA or other recognised international qualification
  • Big 4 background/experience preferred but at least Top 10 audit firm background essential
  • Experience of working in a strong controls framework environment
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise
  • Focused on deliverables and deadlines
  • Ability to manage team members
  • Demonstrated effective written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage change in a positive manner
  • Self-motivated and well organised
