Financial Controller / Accounts Assistant (Part-Time: 1-2 Days/Week)

This is a 12 month contract initially.

Join an ambitious Tech start-up, with plans to scale globally as a part-time Financial Controller/Finance Manager. This hybrid role combines remote work with periodic office presence and offers potential for full-time and future career growth as the company scales.

Founded in 2023, weServed connects 5M UK veterans and their families through a digital marketplace, with revenue streams spanning subscriptions, recruitment fees, advertising, commissions, and more. Following our launch, we’re also transitioning to a new outsourced accounting partner specialising in Tech start-ups.

Role Overview:

Support the implementation of improved financial processes, collaborate with an external accounting provider, and ensure smooth day-to-day financial operations as the business scales.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with the outsourced accounting provider to resolve queries for quarterly management accounts and VAT returns.
  • Manage purchase invoices, staff expenses, supplier payments, and record-keeping.
  • Reconcile revenue streams and support credit control activities.
  • Oversee payroll coordination, including new hires and leavers.
  • Ensure financial controls align with operational and technical developments.
  • Assist in rolling cashflow forecasts and banking administration.
Key Skills:
  • Experience with Xero and solid Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, charts).
  • Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and a "can-do" attitude.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a fast-evolving start-up environment.
  • Accounting qualification (studying, part-qualified, or qualified by experience) preferred.
