Job Description
Month-End, Quarter-End, Year-End Close
- Posting journal entries (accruals, prepayments, provisions).
- Reconciling balance sheet accounts (cash, fixed assets, intercompany).
- Ensuring all ledgers are accurate and closed on time.
Financial Reporting
- Preparing statutory financial statements under IFRS/local GAAP.
- Consolidating results for regional or group reporting.
- Submitting reports to regulatory authorities and HQ.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensuring adherence to local tax laws (VAT, corporate tax).
- Managing audits (internal and external).
- Implementing SOX/internal control frameworks and documenting processes.
Tax & Legal Requirements
- Coordinating with external advisors for tax filings.
- Reviewing compliance with local legal standards.
Financial Analysis & Insights
- Reviewing P&L and balance sheet for trends and variances.
- Tracking KPIs (e.g., revenue growth, cost ratios).
- Providing commentary and recommendations to management.
Process & Quality Assurance
- Reviewing reconciliations and reports for accuracy.
- Identifying process improvements and automation opportunities.
Ad-Hoc Support
- Running financial models for decision-making.
- Supporting regional finance projects or system upgrades
The Successful Applicant
A successful Financial Control Lead should have:
- Ideally a first or second time audit mover from Big4/Big10 accounting firm
- If an industry trained professional, knowledge around IFRS & SOX within retail or manufacturing sectors will be advantageous
- A strong educational background in accounting or finance.
- Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, ICAEW
- Excellent knowledge of financial regulations and standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead and inspire a team effectively.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems.
