Job summary

Cheshire West and Chester Council is seeking a Financial Assessment Technician to join the Client Finance Team on a 37-hour temporary contract (6 months). The role is hybrid and mainly homebased, with weekly attendance at The Portal and more frequent attendance during training.

You will carry out means testing, collect and verify financial information, maintain records, support colleagues, and liaise with Social Care teams, Legal Services, DWP, and Debt Recovery to ensure timely and fair

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the process of a means test for Adult Social Care services in accordance with procedures and legislation.
  • Collect, verify, and record customer financial information.
  • Maintain accurate records using council systems, ensuring compliance with Data Protection and security standards.
  • Support colleagues where needed.
  • Liaise effectively with internal and external partners including Social Care teams, Legal Services, DWP, Council Tax, Debt Recovery and Corporate Fraud teams.
  • Identify and refer cases of potential fraud or financial mismanagement.

Job description

We are looking to recruit:

  • 1 x 37 hour temporary (6 month) position as a Financial Assessment Technician.
  • This role is a fullyhybrid worker position, and will bemainly homebased, with the need to attend The Portal once a week.
  • Attendance is required more regularly during the training period

About the Role:

  • The right person will join our well established Client Finance Team as a Financial Assessment Technician.
  • You should be motivated and detail oriented individual to carry out accurate and timely actions to assist with the financial assessments for Adult Social Care customers, in line with legislation, policy, and council procedures.
  • You will provide high quality customer service to the Financial Assessment Officers and will respond to enquiries by phone or in writing . You will also support colleagues and teams across the Council to ensure customers receive timely and fair assessments and clear information in relation to charges for social care services.
  • If successful, the candidate will be required to undertake a basic DBS check.
