About the team

We're excited to share an opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join Ordnance Survey as a Finance Analyst. You'll join our collaborative Finance team that plays a key role in supporting informed decision-making across OS. Our team provides trusted financial insight, reporting and assurance to support business performance and long-term sustainability, while ensuring robust financial controls are in place across the organisation.

We value curiosity, continuous improvement and teamwork, creating an environment where everyone can contribute ideas, develop professionally and make a meaningful impact.

About the role

Working closely with project managers, Finance Business Partners and other stakeholders, you will help ensure project costs, internal labour, capital investment, and fixed/leased asset records are accurate, well controlled and clearly understood.

As a Finance Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting the financial management of our project portfolio, ensuring expenditure is appropriately recorded, monitored and reported. You will work with colleagues across the organisation to maintain strong financial controls, support decision-making and provide financial insight into project performance and investment activity.

In this role, you will be:

  • Managing ongoing and month-end/year-end project accounting activities, including monitoring project costs, internal labour allocations and capital expenditure
  • Supporting project managers and Finance Business Partners with financial reporting and analysis to improve understanding of project performance and promote compliance
  • Maintaining the fixed and leased asset register and ensuring additions, disposals, transfers and depreciation are accurately recorded as part of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Reviewing and processing project-related accounting entries to ensure compliance with accounting policies and audit requirements
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and planning activities for projects and capital programmes
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive mindset with experience of working with complex datasets and financial controls
  • Ability to interpret financial information and communicate it clearly to a range of audiences
  • Experience working with financial systems, Excel and reporting tools
  • Understanding of fixed assets, capitalisation, and good accounting practice
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Collaborative approach and confidence in building effective working relationships across a range of business functions
Nice to have
  • Progress towards or completion of a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting or business planning processes
  • Experience working with Dynamics 365, business intelligence, or reporting tools
