Job summary

A leading entertainment company in Uxbridge seeks an Inventory Accounting Manager to lead a team, manage compliance with US GAAP, and focus on financial improvement projects. We are looking for an Inventory Accounting Manager to join our Controllership team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and supporting accounting team members in day-to-day tasks and focusing on global process improvement projects. Success in this role requires being driven and innovative, with a strong work ethic and a leadership style characterized by a straightforward style, approachability, a team orientation, and collaboration.

This is a hybrid role that requires the ability to work onsite, 3 days per week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Responsibilities
  • Inventory Accounting
  • Ensure that inventory E&O reserves are accurately calculated and recorded in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Ensure proper accounting treatment of goods in transit, rework, goods received not invoiced, MPV release, etc.
  • Lead the timely and accurate execution of inventory-specific financial close activities
  • Review the setup and update of standard inventory costs
  • Oversee the performance of account reconciliations with proper supporting documentation
  • Oversee the preparation and review of journal entries and ensure adherence to accounting policies and standards
  • Oversee variance analysis efforts, conduct detailed investigation of discrepancies, and ensure financial data integrity
  • Compliance and Reporting
  • Manage the team’s compliance with US GAAP, company policies and procedures, and other regulatory requirements
  • Manage internal and external audit support, including preparation of audit documentation in response to auditor inquiries
  • Implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization
  • Audit and SOX
  • Implement recommendations and mitigation plans in response to audit findings and outcomes
  • Oversee the coordination of year-end group audits and internal audits and manage the provision of required documentation and responses to auditor inquiries
  • Own the development, implementation, and maintenance of SOX controls and address any identified deficiencies
  • Third Party Collaboration
  • Ensure that third-party contractors deliver high-quality work and ensure that service level agreements (SLAs) are met and maintained
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics for third parties and ensure that third-party-owned activities remain in compliance with company standards and policies
  • Implement quality assurance processes to review and approve the work of third-party support and provide feedback
  • Address and resolve any issues or conflicts with third-party support, ensuring smooth operations and effective collaboration
  • Team Management
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration within the team
  • Provide mentorship to accountants and senior accountants by fostering their professional growth and skill enhancement
  • Evaluate the performance of the accounting team by providing constructive feedback and development plans
  • Participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new team members and ensure a high standard of talent within the team
What you’ll bring
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in accounting and finance roles of increasing responsibility
  • A minimum of 3 years of public accounting (Big 4 experience preferred)
  • Experience with a large ERP system (SAP and Blackline experience preferred)
  • Must possess a deep technical knowledge of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Knowledge of IFRS is considered a plus
  • Degree in BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance or a similar BSc (Hons) in a related accounting field; Chartered Accountant (ACA) and ACCA designation is preferred
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated success in the development of staff and others toward improved skills, independence, and self-initiative
  • Ability to earn trust and credibility within the organization, and capable of developing effective business relationships with all members of the global accounting organization leadership team
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to make sound business decisions
