Qualifications

  • Lead annual financial accounts and CASS audits.
  • Prepare annual financial statements and ensure compliance.
  • Review and enhance financial processes and controls.

Job description

As Financial Accountant, you'll provide leadership and technical expertise across the finance function, reporting directly to the Head of Finance and managing a team of 3 Finance Assistants.

Key Areas of Impact
  • Year-End Accounts & Statutory Audit
    • Lead annual financial accounts and CASS audits
    • Prepare annual financial statements
    • Liaise with auditors and ensure reporting compliance
  • Financial Processes & Controls
    • Review, document, and enhance financial processes to evidence robust controls and risk mitigation
    • Ensure statutory returns are completed on time (HMRC, ONS surveys, grant claims)
    • Maintain charity bank accounts and signatory protocols
  • Monthly Accounts & Management Information
    • Take ownership of restricted funds management and development
  • Team Leadership
    • Create a culture of personal development
    • Lead with vulnerability and build a high-trust team
    • Balance team workloads using LEAN and effective strategic methods
  • Data & Systems Development
    • Lead development and integrity of the Financial System
    • Oversee design and implementation of new financial reports and process automation
    • Provide technical support on Chart of Accounts and reporting queries
Qualifications
  • Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts
  • Excellent technical finance and accounting knowledge including leading audits
  • Problem-solving, analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
Desirable
  • Line-management experience
  • Charity accounting experience
  • Experience reviewing controls & processes and installing/upgrading accounting systems
