Job description

About us

At DFS Group, we’re proud to help people create spaces they love to live in. We’re home to DFS, Sofology, and The Sofa Delivery Company: three brands with their own personalities, brought together by a shared mission.

Behind our brands is a passionate Group team. From Finance and Technology to People, Marketing and Supply Chain, our Group functions power everything we do. They create the foundations that allow our brands to thrive, innovate and grow.

Whether you’re supporting our brands or serving our customers, the mindset that connects us means we expect more of ourselves and each other. It means every customer is our favourite, every voice is valued, and every interaction is one we’re proud of.

When you’re part of a community that shares your way of thinking, the wins feel bigger. The effort feels worth it. It’s a place where people stay because they feel valued, and find room to grow because they’re challenged.

About the role

We’re looking for a Finance Systems Project Manager to play a key role in our Group Finance Transformation programme, helping us bring together finance, technology and smarter ways of working.

You’ll sit at the intersection of Finance and IT, leading the delivery of finance system upgrades, process automation and complex integrations. Working closely with both teams, you’ll make sure our technology solutions not only work effectively, but also meet our financial controls, accounting principles and regulatory requirements.

It’s a great opportunity to make a real impact, helping shape how Finance operates at DFS and delivering technology and process improvements that make a difference across the wider business.

This is a hybrid role based in our superb Group Support Office based in Doncaster and may involve occasional travel

What you’ll be responsible for
  • Managing finance technology projects from start to finish, from building the initial business case through to implementation and handover.
  • Working closely with Finance and IT to understand what the business needs and turn this into practical technology solutions.
  • Leading projects that improve finance systems, automate processes and make it easier for information to flow between our retail and finance systems.
  • Working with teams across Finance, IT, Internal Audit and Financial Controls to make sure new systems are secure, well controlled and meet our regulatory requirements.
  • Helping to introduce new systems and processes smoothly, making sure they are ready to move into business-as-usual support.
  • Managing project budgets, resources and risks, keeping projects on track and making sure they deliver the expected results.
  • Working alongside our Business Change team to make sure new systems and processes are successfully introduced and adopted by our teams.
  • Supporting business cases by helping to define the benefits, objectives and measures of success for each project.
  • Building strong relationships across Finance, IT and the wider business to bring people together and deliver meaningful improvements.
We’re looking for someone who has
  • A strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, including general ledger structures, reconciliations, financial controls and audit requirements.
  • Proven experience managing finance technology projects, ideally with 4+ years’ experience delivering system implementations, upgrades, process automation or financial system integrations.
  • Experience working with finance platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Workday, SAP, Sage or Oracle NetSuite.
  • A good understanding of how systems connect and share information, including APIs, data migration and databases.
  • Experience using project management methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall or Hybrid, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work effectively with Finance, IT, auditors and technical teams.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build strong relationships, understand different perspectives and bring people together to deliver successful change.
Desirable (But Not Essential)
  • A background or professional qualification in finance/accounting (e.g., part-qualified CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent experience as a Finance Systems Analyst).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced UK retail or e-commerce environment.
  • Project management certification (PRINCE2, APM, or Agile PM).
