As Project Manager, you'll provide operational leadership within the Finance Projects Team, managing project staff and resources whilst overseeing the successful delivery of complex projects and workstreams. You'll work with stakeholders across the Council to identify opportunities for improvement, develop business cases and options appraisals, and ensure projects deliver measurable benefits and outcomes. This is a hybrid role with the opportunity to combine working from home with regular office attendance at City Hall. We offer flexible working arrangements and support a healthy work-life balance.

In this role, you will lead and deliver a varied portfolio of projects spanning finance systems, business change and operational transformation. You’ll manage project staff, external suppliers and delivery partners, ensuring projects are delivered to agreed time, cost and quality expectations.
You’ll develop project schedules, governance arrangements and reporting mechanisms, whilst actively managing risks, issues and dependencies throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with senior managers and business leads, you'll gather requirements, facilitate workshops, develop options appraisals and business cases, and support services through change.
You’ll build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation, presenting progress updates, recommendations and project information to boards, steering groups and senior management. You’ll also contribute to the continuous improvement of project management practices within the Finance Projects Team, helping to strengthen delivery capability across Corporate Finance.

We’re looking for someone with strong project management experience, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to lead people and projects effectively.
Experience of working with finance systems, ERP solutions or within a local government environment would be advantageous.
