Finance Operations provides a range of core services to the whole of DfT, covering Finance, HR and Commercial functions. FO drives continuous improvements in operational and financial management and supports high-profile programmes that help staff at DfT deliver more efficiently and effectively.

The role-holder’s main areas of responsibility are:

  • Aim to clear 90% of all requests/queries to the Service Desk within 5 working days.
  • Manage the enquiries inbox which provides the first point of contact for queries by providing a timely response to our customers.
  • Maintain the Delegations and Authority lists to ensure the correct framework is in place for officials to transact their business.
  • Contribute to the Government-wide finance whilst providing support to DfT Special Requisitioners, Finance Business Partners, contract managers and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide specialist finance advice to the business including any training and signpost guidance.
  • Perform system tests for new finance processes to be deployed into the business.
  • Ensure all day-to-day finance processes have guidance notes and documents that are kept up to date.
  • Ensure that monthly, quarterly, and statutory Reports and returns are accurate and timely.
  • Manage other ad-hoc projects or wider teamwork.
  • Responsible for a small team
