Job summary

A leading childcare provider in Denton seeks a Payroll Support Specialist to facilitate timely and accurate employee payments. Duties include managing payroll processes, advising staff regarding pay and taxes, and ensuring compliance with legislation. The ideal candidate will have payroll experience, strong numeracy and IT skills, and be CIPP qualified or willing to work towards qualification. A commitment to confidentiality and attention to detail is essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in a head office environment for a multi-site company.
  • Knowledge and understanding of payroll including statutory legislation.

  • Administer the Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) and Statutory Paternity Pay schemes.

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US

This role facilitates the timely and accurate payment of our employees, who are the cornerstone of our organisation. It provides support to employees in understanding their pay, taxes and pension. This role is also essential in ensuring we meet our obligations to pay the correct employment taxes on time and in line with current legislation

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Reporting to the Payroll Manager you will support in the end-to-end process of payroll while ensuring all employees are accurately recorded in the payroll system.

  • Arrange the payment of staff salaries through the computerised payroll system
  • Administer the Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) and Statutory Paternity Pay schemes
  • Process starters and leavers on a timely basis
  • Provide advice to staff and managers in relation to pay, taxation and National Insurance
  • Oversee and improve the process for reconciling grant claims made to the LAs against systems data
  • Assist in the administration of the company pension schemes
  • Complete any information requests received from HMRC
  • Maintain employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential
WHAT IT TAKES
PROFFESIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
  • Strong numeracy skills and IT skills
  • CIPP qualified or willingness to work towards same
