Job summary

Save the Children UK is seeking a Finance Operations Manager on a 15‑month maternity cover contract, starting December 2026, to lead the Finance Operations team and deliver robust financial operations, accounting and controls across the charity.

You will strengthen the financial control environment, manage month‑end and year‑end processes, support external and donor audits, and collaborate with colleagues to improve systems and stakeholder experience.

Qualifications

• Recognised accountancy qualification with post-qualification experience.
• Extensive experience in financial operations and controls.
• Experience leading finance teams in a complex organisation.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication.
• Experience in charities or non-profit sector preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing Finance Operations team in line with service levels.
• Own and strengthen financial control environment including balance sheet controls and reconciliations.
• Manage month-end and year-end processes for accurate reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement across financial processes and systems.
• Support statutory, external and donor audits with timely information.
• Build strong relationships across the organisation to improve service delivery.
