Job summary

A leading consulting firm in the United Kingdom is seeking a Finance Officer to support a local council. This temporary role requires about 3 years of relevant financial experience, working with budget management and financial management systems. Working Arrangement: Maybe some hybrid working, TBC with line manager

What's involved with this role

In order to apply for this role you will have approximately 3 years’ experience in a relevant financial position, ideally within a local authority, charity or public sector organisation.

The role

On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a temporary Finance Officer to cover a vacant post during the recruitment process.

The successful candidate will be a suitably qualified, enthusiastic and motivated individual, with relevant experience, to contribute to a highly effective service within the Finance Team responsible for Council-wide financial planning and management and the provision of financial information to a wide range of internal and external users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Completing Budget Management which includes Education and Public Health Services
  • Completing the budget cycle to agreed deadlines
  • Supporting and advising budget holders
  • Supporting the Finance Manager and Senior Finance Officer with specific and ad hoc workstreams
What the client is looking for
  • Approximately 3 years’ experience in a relevant financial position
  • Relevant finance qualifications or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of accounting concepts and principles
  • Experience of using Financial Management systems
  • Experience of interpreting legislation, policy or procedures to give advice
  • Able to analyse and interpret complex information
  • Able to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to organise work and plan tasks to meet tight deadlines
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • IT literate, able to use Microsoft Office packages
  • Able to present complex information to non-finance specialists in a way they understand
