Job description

My client is a well-regarded business and currently looking for an experienced Finance Officer to support the Director of Finance in financial reporting, ensuring the integrity of financial data, and enhancing the quality and usability of financial information. You must have proven experience in a similar role and be able to hit the ground running.

Key responsibilities required for the Finance Officer:
  • Develop and document processes for monthly cash flow and balance sheet reporting using the TechOne Finance system.
  • Produce accurate and timely reports for Executive and Board meetings.
  • Work with the Director of Finance to provide meaningful financial support to budget holders.
  • Ensure monthly management accounts are reconciled and reviewed with finance colleagues.
  • Prepare monthly reports highlighting significant variances and events for the Director of Finance.
  • Meet with budget holders to understand future developments and prepare forecasts.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting for operational areas.
  • Maintain control over the Asset Register.
  • Provide regular management information on capital projects.
  • Assist in preparing year-end notes related to fixed assets.
  • Authorise journals and ensure period closure aligns with management accounts.
  • Reconcile rental income, utility accruals, sales and purchase ledgers.
  • Investigate anomalies and ensure all balance sheet items are fully reconciled.
  • Provide reports and support for year-end audits.
Key skills required for the Finance Officer:
  • Experience within the education sector would be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and financial software (including TechOne).
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and balance sheet operations.
  • Ability to prepare management information and audit-standard reports.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, especially in presenting financial data to non-finance colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
