About the Role

An established company is seeking a reliable and experienced Bookkeeper / Finance Officer to take charge of day-to-day financial operations.

The Role

This is a standalone finance position with full responsibility for the company's bookkeeping and payroll functions. The role is fully office-based.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full management of sales and purchase ledgers
  • Matching and batching supplier invoices to purchase orders
  • Supplier statement reconciliations and preparation of payment runs
  • Bank postings and reconciliations
  • Xero processing and NEST pension submissions
  • CIS deductions and monthly submissions to HMRC
  • Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns
  • Posting journals (including wages and ad hoc adjustments)
  • Monthly and ad hoc reporting to management
  • Liaising with external accountants
  • Preparing accounts up to Trial Balance for year-end
  • Admin duties: answering phones, managing emails, maintaining staff records
What We're Looking For
  • ✅ Minimum 5 years' experience in a bookkeeping or finance role
  • ✅ Proficiency in Xero Accounts
  • ✅ Working knowledge of CIS and NEST pensions
  • ✅ Highly organised, accurate, and able to work independently for long periods without supervision
  • ✅ Strong communication skills and the ability to manage your own workload
Preferred (but not essential)
  • Experience in the construction or property sector
  • AAT, ICB, or equivalent accounting qualification
