Finance Officer – Brighton (Hybrid) | £32,000 – £38,000 + Benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join a dynamic and growing SME based in Brighton. This is a permanent position offering a broad and varied finance remit within a collaborative, forward-thinking business environment.

Working closely with senior leadership and international partners, this role plays a key part in supporting daily finance operations and strategic financial planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process supplier invoices, authorise payments, and resolve discrepancies
  • Issue client invoices, manage collections, monitor aged debt, and handle billing queries
  • Record and reconcile all financial transactions accurately
  • Process payroll and manage statutory deductions and benefits (UK payroll is limited, with international payroll handled by local accountants)
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Prepare VAT returns and contribute to management accounts
  • Conduct internal audits and ensure financial compliance
  • Liaise with senior teams and external accountants to provide financial insights and support decision-making
What we’re looking for
  • Experience using Sage 50 (essential) and ideally some exposure to Xero (as the business may transition in the future)
  • A hands-on, solutions-focused approach and the ability to multitask within a small, busy team
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Confidence working across international entities and with external accounting partners
  • Experience in a recruitment or service-based business is a plus, but not essential
