We re looking for an Finance Officer to play a key role in our Finance team, ensuring that all income, from rents to service charges, is accurately posted, reconciled, and managed within our Housing and Finance systems. You ll help keep our financial records in perfect order, working collaboratively across teams to resolve queries, clear suspense items, and ensure the smooth flow of funds that support our services and communities.
Responsibilities
- Accurately post all income received; including rents, service charges, and other payments, into both the Housing Management and Finance systems.
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure all transactions are reconciled and investigated promptly.
- Investigate any unknown receipts by liaising with banks, internal income teams, DWP, Allpay, and other agencies.
- Maintain and clear suspense accounts, ensuring everything is allocated correctly.
- Process account adjustments and other transactions as instructed.
- Support continuous improvement by helping to develop new and efficient ways of working within the team.
Other Income
- Raise ad hoc invoices to tenants and other debtors as required.
- Monitor and chase debts, sending regular statements and reminders.
- Liaise with other teams to ensure effective credit control and income recovery.
Team & Service Contribution
- Provide cover and support to other areas of the Finance team when needed.
- Actively contribute to a collaborative, high-performing finance function, upholding the organisation s values and behaviours.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to excellent customer service, value for money, high performance, equality, and diversity at all times.
- Sound understanding of financial systems and transaction processing.
- Experience of working within a high-performing finance team.
- Proven ability to manage and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience within a transaction processing or income management role.
- Experience using NEC Housing Management System (previously named Northgate) desirable.
