  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Central Team to ensure procedures are followed.

Job description

Finance Officer – Part-Time

Location: Cheddar

Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract: Temporary until December 2026

Hours: Part-time, with full-time considered for the right candidate

We are currently seeking an experienced Finance Officer to join a Central Team based in Cheddar.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional with previous school finance experience and knowledge of PS Financials. The role is initially offered on a part-time basis, although full-time hours may be considered for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will ideally have:
  • Previous experience working within a school or education setting
  • Experience using PS Financials
  • Strong understanding of financial administration and processes
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage financial information accurately and confidentially
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
  • A professional and proactive approach to their work
Key responsibilities may include:
  • Supporting the day-to-day financial administration
  • Processing invoices, purchase orders and financial transactions
  • Maintaining accurate financial records
  • Assisting with reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Monitoring and processing payments
  • Supporting budget monitoring and general finance queries
  • Working closely with colleagues across the Central Team
  • Ensuring financial procedures and processes are followed correctly
Vetting Requirements

As this role is based within a school environment, all candidates will be required to successfully complete the relevant safeguarding and vetting checks before commencing work.

Candidates should ideally hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service. Those without an existing DBS on the Update Service must be willing to obtain a new Enhanced DBS.

We will also require:

  • A minimum of two satisfactory employer references covering the previous 24 months
  • If you have not previously worked with children, three references will be required
  • Any gaps in employment history will need to be supported by a suitable professional character reference
  • Full completion of our safeguarding and identity checks
