The purpose of this role is to establish and maintain financial systems control audits and provide accurate financial information to senior management and the board of directors in respect of Syndicate Reporting. This role is responsible for ensuring appropriate review of the financial results of the syndicates and compliance with regulatory Lloyds requirements – e.g. QMA, QMB, RRQ and Syndicate statutory accounts. Additionally the role involves overseeing financial controls assurance activities and contributing to clean internal and external audits.

We are looking for a skilled Syndicate Finance Manager to lead the delivery of accurate and timely syndicate financial reporting, ensure compliance with Lloyds regulatory requirements and drive excellence in financial controls and audit readiness.

Your New Role

In this pivotal role you’ll be responsible for overseeing the financial systems and reporting processes that support our syndicates, including QMA, QMB, RRQ and statutory accounts. You’ll work closely with senior management and the board, providing trusted financial insights and assurance. Your expertise will also be key in managing financial controls assurance activities and contributing to successful internal and external audits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review syndicate financial results under both AIFRS and FRS 102 accounting standards, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Ensure full compliance with Lloyds regulatory reporting deadlines and requirements including QMA, QMB, RRQ, syndicate statutory accounts and Statement of Actuarial Opinion (SAO).
  • Prepare and deliver accurate, timely financial reports and commentary, including governance packs for the Board and Audit Committee meetings.
  • Maintain and enhance strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, actuaries and regulatory bodies.
  • Lead and support the finance team in achieving key performance indicators and delivering high‑quality outputs.
  • Communicate regularly with external auditors and provide support with responding to their audit queries.
  • Establish and maintain robust financial controls to safeguard the organisation’s assets and ensure audit readiness.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of process improvements, automation initiatives and financial systems enhancements.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on syndicate reporting and capital requirements.
About You
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent) with post‑qualification experience in insurance accounting within the Lloyds market.
  • Strong working knowledge of Lloyds regulatory reporting requirements, including QMA, QMB, RRQ and Syndicate Accounts.
  • Proven experience in syndicate financial control, including month‑end close processes, ledger reconciliations, investment accounting and RITC transactions.
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with Lloyds software and general ledger systems.
  • Up‑to‑date understanding of UK GAAP, IFRS and regulatory frameworks relevant to Lloyds.
  • Extensive experience working cross‑functionally with underwriting, actuarial, risk and finance teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders of all seniority levels.
  • A proactive mindset toward improving reporting processes, automation and financial controls.
  • Experience managing or mentoring a small team is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Oracle and TM1 is desirable, along with experience using Lloyds‑specific systems such as LCA, Xchanging, iXBRL tagging and market‑data collection tools.
