Qualifications

Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight, with every other Friday as a non-working day. This role is eligible for hybrid working, typically spending three days on site in a long week and two days in a short week. Role Description: The Financial Accounting team is seeking an experienced Finance Manager (Statutory & Technical Accounting) to provide advanced systems expertise and lead the effective planning and delivery of financial activities across the CFO Finance function. You will oversee Financial Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Compliance, and Finance Systems, providing clear leadership and line management to your team.

The Role

• Task and develop a team to deliver first-class technical and financial activities within the Finance function.
• Use Fusion and other finance systems to provide financial information through effective communication and reporting, focusing on continuous improvement.
• Build rapport with internal and external stakeholders and communicate complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation and analysis of Annual Report & Accounts (AR&A).
• Research significant transactions to understand business drivers and ensure correct local accounting treatment.
• Own and develop processes to identify leases under International Financial Reporting Standards.
• Monitor, assess, and interpret technical accounting developments and their impact on financial reporting.
• Ensure the timely and successful completion of the external audit process.
• Prepare and submit MOD reporting returns.
• Develop financial reporting for Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) and Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

Who Are We Looking For?

We do need you to have the following:

• Professional accounting qualification (i.e., ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
• Proficient in Excel to an advanced level.
• Audit experience.
• Knowledge of IFRS.
• 2+ years post-qualification experience in financial and technical accounting work.

While not a strict checklist, experience in some of the following is desirable:

• International financial reporting standards.
• Various financial and related systems.
• Developing and managing a team.
• Ensuring rigorous internal finance control through governance and compliance.
