Main Duties of the Job

This is an exciting opportunity to become a key member of the Specialised Commissioning & Health & Justice Finance Team. As a Finance Manager the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service providing financial expertise for acute and mental health contracts whilst supporting managers and staff across the North West Hub. The role covers Lancashire & South Cumbria, Cheshire & Merseyside and Greater Manchester systems and supports the financial, commissioning and governance frameworks for the future Integration of Specialised Commissioning within the three systems. The post holder will also gain experience of the Lead Provider Collaborative process for Mental Health services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Expose and participate in regional level meetings, communicating key messages in both directions.
  • Work with lead commissioners to understand and interpret policies & guidance, advise on financial priorities and consequences under the support of the Specialised Commissioning Team and oversight from the Senior Finance Manager.
  • Manage a team, maintain deadlines and work collaboratively with colleagues outside finance.
  • Lead the team in delivering project plans, identifying risks, issues and dependencies, and making decisions for the project.
  • Oversee financial reporting and planning, applying management accounting skills and meeting deadlines accurately.
  • Provide specialist finance advice and input into papers for scrutiny at internal governance committees.
  • Maintain a high standard of work supporting project delivery on time, to quality standards and cost‑effective.
  • Contribute to strategic planning of team projects, identifying interdependencies and resource requirements, and building contingency.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Accountant registered with a recognised body.
