Job description

The Safety & Security programme is one of the most complex and high-risk areas of tournament delivery. As Finance Manager (Security), you will play a critical role in ensuring robust financial planning, modelling, control and reporting underpin the successful delivery of this function. Reporting into the Head of Finance and working closely with the Director of Safety & Security, you will provide expert financial support, insight and challenge across budgeting, forecasting, modelling and governance. This is a highly visible role, requiring confidence working with non-financial stakeholders in a fast-moving and evolving environment. If you enjoy translating complex financial data into clear, practical insight - and want to apply your expertise to a once-in-a-generation event - this role offers both challenge and impact!

Responsibilities
  • Leading the preparation of robust budgets, forecasts and financial plans (monthly, quarterly and annual).
  • Providing detailed financial analysis and modelling to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Supporting complex workforce and cost modelling (e.g. stewarding and security-related resource planning).
  • Producing clear, high-quality financial reporting for non-financial audiences, including senior leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Identifying financial risks and implementing appropriate controls, monitoring and reporting.
  • Supporting procurement activity, including preparing and challenging Procurement Approval Group submissions.
  • Contributing to internal and external audit processes, including those involving public funding.
  • Responding flexibly to evolving priorities as tournament planning accelerates.

These roles are contractually based at our head office in the iconic Wembley Stadium in London.

We are looking for a qualified finance professional who combines strong technical capability with the confidence to work closely with operational leaders.

Qualifications and Experience
  • A recognised professional accountancy qualification.
  • Statutory accounting experience (industry or audit background).
  • Experience of budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting in complex environments.
  • Strong financial modelling skills and the ability to work with large, complex data sets.
  • The ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
  • Confidence working independently, prioritising workload and exercising sound judgement.
  • Experience of working in major events, safety and security environments, or with public-sector funding is helpful but not essential. Transferable experience from other complex, regulated or operationally intensive sectors is welcomed.

We expect regular time together in the office and currently employees come together at least 3 days a week at HQ in Wembley, with the number of days in HQ increasing as the project develops, with a minimum of 3-4 days needed in 2026-2027 and full‑time in the year of 2028.
