Job description
Job Summary

You will be responsible for accurately monitoring, forecasting and planning income levels for the Trust and will play a key role in the annual contracting process. Provide systems administration service for the National Tariff Payment System monitoring systems (CIVICA) to ensure all day‑to‑day operations are completed to agreed time scales. Expert on the NTPS and interpret and implement all aspects of NTPS policy, quantifying impact on the Trust’s income base for short and medium‑term plans. Lead and develop the strategic information and income reporting processes required by Finance and Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage month‑end closedown routines ensuring financial ledger and CIVICA are reconciled to appropriate data interfaces.
  • Provide specialist advice on NTPS implications to Senior Finance and Non‑Finance Managers and Clinicians.
  • Work with senior finance colleagues to ensure a robust annual budget‑setting process, linking to the annual operating plan, and producing a budget that achieves financial targets.
  • Ensure external data quality concerns are addressed by the Trust Data Quality Group and disseminate best practice across the team.
  • Liaise with Informatics teams to ensure compliance with NTPS guidelines and understanding of activity and finance trends.
  • Schedule, reconcile, and complete daily, monthly and annual system routines and reports to timetable, optimizing system resources and minimizing user response delays.
  • Provide complete and accurate procedures in accordance with Standing Financial Instructions and Audit requirements for system application administration.
Qualifications
  • Professional CCAB qualifications.

  • Expert knowledge of the National Tariff Payment System (NTPS).
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight timescales.
  • Experience collaborating with non‑financial managers on finance and technical matters.
  • Awareness of current NHS policies and priorities.
  • Understanding of financial computerised systems.
Personal Skills & Experience
  • In‑depth post‑qualified experience in senior NHS finance functions.
  • Experience working with external organisations (e.g., CCGs, NHS England, Social Care).
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

Career Progression

Permanent role within Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, band 8a, with salary range £55,690‑£62,682 per annum (pro‑rata if part time).
