As Finance Manager – Capex Business Partnering, you will deliver financial business partnering across multiple programme and delivery areas of Anglian Water’s capital programme. You will drive financial planning, performance, and strategic decision-making aligned with the organisation’s strategic goals and regulatory expectations. Supporting director and senior leader level stakeholders, you will provide high-quality financial insight, robust planning, budgeting, forecasting, and commercial analysis to enable informed decision-making in a complex regulated environment.

You will lead a team of finance professionals, combining business partnering, project accounting, financial planning and analysis, and financial controls for your assigned areas. You will be accountable for accurate actuals, forecasts, and budgets, delivering insight, ensuring financial integrity, mitigating risks, identifying opportunities, and supporting long‑term sustainability and operational efficiency. Effective communication and leadership skills are essential to engage and challenge non‑financial managers, ensuring your team understands business context, priorities, and objectives. You will also drive and embed a culture of commercial awareness for decision‑making across your business area and the wider Finance function.

Key responsibilities
  • Act as a trusted business partner to directors and senior leaders, providing financial guidance, challenge, and support for business cases and investment approvals.
  • Design and deliver financial reports and insight, tracking and challenging delivery against financial targets and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the business planning and forecast cycle for capex, ensuring high quality, timely, and compliant inputs for effective reviews and decision making.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting deadlines, processes, and standards, and actively review the financial risk environment.
  • Champion a culture of insight, transparency, and commercial awareness in financial reporting and decision making.
  • Promote a culture of Health, Safety and Wellbeing, embedding ‘Safer Every Day’ and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
As a valued employee you’ll be entitled to:
  • A competitive pension scheme where we double‑match your contributions up to 6%
  • Private healthcare for your peace of mind
  • An annual bonus scheme
  • The opportunity to volunteer in your local community
  • 26 days holiday (plus Bank Holidays), increasing with service, with the option to swap Christmas and Easter for religious holidays
  • Life cover (8x your salary) and personal accident cover (up to 5x your salary)
  • Flexible benefits to support your well‑being and lifestyle
  • Paid time off for illness, both physical and mental
  • Free parking at all office locations, sites, and leisure parks
  • Excellent family‑friendly policies, including 26 weeks of full pay for maternity/adoption leave and 4 weeks of paternity/partner pay, with the opportunity for shared parental leave
What does it take to be successful?
  • Qualified Finance professional (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) with recognised finance qualification.
  • Experience in leading and developing teams, including performance management.
  • Proven experience in finance business partnering in a capex/capital investment environment.
  • Strong background in capex planning and forecasting, and providing insight on performance against plans and forecasts.
  • Experience working cross‑functionally with PMOs, project teams, and commercial functions.
  • Experience in financial risk management and controls in a capital finance environment.
  • Record of providing high quality reporting and analysis in capital programmes to support decision making.
  • Good knowledge of financial reporting and analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, SAP).
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to inspire and support a high‑performing team
  • Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills
  • Able to use SAP, Power BI, or similar analytics platforms, including creating dashboards and reporting packs
