Your impact in the role

You will report directly to the Head of Finance - Business Accounting and lead a close knit, motivated and highly performing and engaged team of finance professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership & Collaboration: Lead a high-performing finance team and partner across Development, Property Services, Customer Service, and Corporate Services to deliver Business Accounting and support business success.
  • Statutory accounts: Support on preparation of statutory accounts for subsidiaries and joint ventures, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and effective coordination with external auditors.
  • Audit: Prepare, review and finalise audit schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation are complete, accurate and audit ready.
  • Internal control: Maintain a robust internal control environment identifying and addressing process and compliance gaps.
  • Team Leadership & Systems Improvement: Develop finance colleagues professionally, foster a high-performing team culture, and drive improvements in systems, workflows, and stakeholder communication.
What you'll bring
  • Technical Expertise: Professionally qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) with strong knowledge of capital expenditure and investment appraisal techniques; sector-specific experience is helpful but not essential.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to lead and develop finance teams, delegate effectively, and foster a positive team culture.
  • Commercial & Analytical Skills: Strong financial analysis and commercial awareness to support strategic decision-making and organisational goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Clear communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and present complex financial information meaningfully.
  • Planning & Risk Management: Skilled in managing priorities, scenario planning, and identifying financial and operational risks.
