Finance Manager - 12 months Contract Salary: £450-550 per day (Inside IR35) Location: London (Hybrid)
A leading organisation in the heart of London is seeking a Finance Manager to coordinate and supervise their accounting function, offering you the chance to make a significant impact within a highly respected finance department. This role provides an exceptional opportunity to oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, intercompany reconciliations, and joint venture billing, while managing a dedicated Accounting team.
What you'll do
- Coordinate and supervise the daily operations of the Accounting team (team of 3), ensuring all activities are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Manage the appraisal process, provide training opportunities, and support career development for direct reports within the Accounting team.
- Review and approve invoices and manual journal entries processed by the team, maintaining rigorous standards of accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee the preparation of BACS payments and manual payment forms on a weekly basis to ensure timely processing.
- Ensure prompt invoicing of recharges to group companies and third parties in line with contractual terms to maximise cash flow benefits.
- Monitor the issuance of Joint Venture billings to guarantee deadlines are met and contractual obligations are fulfilled.
- Lead the month‑end close process for the Accounting team by reviewing accruals, reversal journals, and coordinating various month‑end entries.
- Supervise master data management for vendors and customers including account set‑up and changes to maintain accurate records.
- Ensure payroll journals are recorded correctly and employee accounts are cleared in a timely manner.
- Oversee cost recharges to other group companies and third parties while maintaining general ledger accounts related to working capital.
What you bring
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Economics or Business Management or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 5 years' post‑qualification experience (CA, CIMA or ACCA) is required.
- Team management experience is essential.
- Proven track record in managing accounting functions including accounts payable/receivable, intercompany reconciliations and joint venture billing is preferable.
- Demonstrated proficiency in SAP as well as advanced skills in Excel and Word.
- Experience within the oil and gas industry would be preferable but not mandatory; transferable skills from similar sectors will also be considered.
- Excellent communication skills combined with strong interpersonal abilities are vital for collaborating across teams and resolving queries with external partners.
- Ability to prioritise tasks effectively under strict deadlines while remaining flexible during peak periods such as year‑end or quarterly closing.
