Overview

As Finance Manager, you will take ownership of all financial operations within the company, its subsidiaries and other businesses in the group owned by the Directors. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to support the company's growth.

This is a hands-on role ideal for a commercially minded finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys being involved in all aspects of business finance.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of company accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and banking.
  • Produce monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and financial reports for senior management.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and cost control processes.
  • Monitor company performance against budgets and provide regular financial analysis and recommendations.
  • Liaise with external accountants, lenders, auditors, and HMRC regarding tax, VAT, and compliance matters.
  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls and processes.
  • Support business decision-making through accurate and timely financial data.
  • Manage and mentor any finance or administrative support staff as required.
  • Assist with financial aspects of contracts, tenders, and business development opportunities.
  • Oversee the move from Sage to Xero for all businesses
  • Assist in the integration of appropriate AI systems to assist the running of the businesses.
Qualifications/Skills
  • A recognised UK accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA, AAT (Level 4 or above), or equivalent experience in a senior finance role.
  • Proven experience as a Finance Manager, Management Accountant, or similar role within an SME environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks).
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work closely with directors and operational teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach and ability to work independently.
