Job description
Finance Manager - Temporary - Stockport - Up to £55,000

On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Finance Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day financial operations of the business for a maternity cover. This role is to start immediately.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and financial reports for senior management.
  • Oversee cash flow management, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Support year‑end audit preparation and liaise with external auditors and accountants.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant financial regulations and internal controls.
  • Process end‑to‑end monthly payroll accurately and on time.
  • Ensure all statutory deductions (PAYE, NI, pension, etc.) are calculated and submitted correctly.
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including employee benefits, bonuses, and leave.
  • Liaise with HR on employee changes, new starters, and leavers.
  • Reconcile payroll control accounts.
  • Oversee the full sales ledger process, including raising invoices and maintaining accurate records.
  • Monitor customer accounts and ensure timely collection of payments.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and handle queries professionally.
  • Oversee supplier invoices, approvals, and payments.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a Finance Manager or similar accounting role.
  • Ideally a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or qualified by experience (QBE). Strong knowledge of payroll, management accounts, and financial controls.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Available to start immediately for a temporary maternity cover.
