Finance Manager/Analyst
Stevenage (Hybrid - 3 days office / 2 days home)

Butler Rose is delighted to be partnered with this well established, long standing SME seeking a Finance Analyst to join our friendly and supportive team in Stevenage. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with solid experience in cash / treasury management who is keen to broaden their skill set through hands‑on involvement in a finance system implementation project.

This role is ideal for a proactive, conscientious individual who enjoys working with change, getting involved in projects, and is keen to build on their experience and skill set.

You will play a key role in supporting the finance function, with a focus on cash management, foreign exchange and treasury activities, while also being heavily involved in a finance system implementation and associated process improvements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the completion of daily and monthly bank reconciliations and the investigation of any issues
  • Production of short term cashflow, weekly bank balance tracking and monthly cashflow
  • Balance analysis and transfers to optimise interest rate returns
  • Leading on the day to day relationship with the banks, ensuring mandates are up to date
  • Management of Accounts Payable – Ensuring that accounts payable ledgers are reconciled each month and prepayments are recorded accurately and that issues are dealt with
  • Assisting on managing exposure to foreign currency risk, including purchasing forward contracts to ensure sufficient foreign currency for upcoming payments
  • Liaising with merchandising teams regarding forward rates for pricing policies
  • VAT returns and submission
  • Monthly duty reconciliation
  • Support with corporation tax return annually
  • Act as a central point of contact through new ERP integration
  • Ensure financial input into process design and documentation
Who are we looking for?
  • Previous experience in a cash / treasury and multi‑currency finance role – you may either be a finance analyst already and looking for a new opportunity or an assistant accountant/management accountant looking to broaden your experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
  • An interest in project work, systems implementation and process change
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment
  • Retail industry finance experience is beneficial but not essential
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, proactive approach
