Job description

Finance Manager – Shrewsbury

Permanent, full‑time, Monday–Friday. Salary £35,000–£40,000.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reports.
• Manage all accounting processes, from data entry to final review, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Provide financial insights and analysis to support senior management decision‑making.
• Oversee financial forecasting, budgeting and long‑term planning to support rapid growth.
• Handle VAT returns, payroll, statutory accounts preparation and assist with year‑end audits.
• Mentor and lead a junior finance team member to ensure efficient financial operations.
• Negotiate and agree terms of business with suppliers and clients.
• Manage commercial and credit insurance policies to protect financial interests.
• Assist with Pre‑Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) and other documentation for new business opportunities.
• Continuously improve financial systems and processes to keep pace with growth.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in preparing management accounts, financial forecasting, and delivering financial insights to senior management. A strong understanding of accounting principles and financial operations, with a hands‑on approach to high‑level analysis and daily tasks, is required. Experience in managing commercial aspects such as negotiating terms of business, handling credit insurance and PQQ submissions is essential. Qualified or part‑qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
